SUMMARY:Imaging the Divine
DESCRIPTION:\n\nThe life and teachings of Lord Krishna and Lord Buddha
, the two most illustrious Avatars of Lord Vishnu’s Dashavatar, have
fired the imagination of generations of artists and connoisseurs of a
rt. They are the most human of all avatars of Lord Bishnu. Both preach
ed the need for universal love to remove the ills and sufferings of hu
manity. Krishna’s message of love found expressions through the most
humane form of men- women relationship. The story of Radha and Krishn
a is the epitome of selfless relationship that most men and women can
easily identify with. The Buddha in his lifetime understood the futili
ty of severe asceticism. He taught us to look at and think about our o
wn lives. The most profound expression of his philosophy can be seen i
n this quote of Buddha, “All that we are is the result of what we ha
ve thought. If a man speaks or acts with an evil thought, pain follows
him. If a man speaks or acts with a pure thought, happiness follows h
im, like a shadow that never leaves him.” Babita Biswas paintings in
Warli Art Form, a traditional art form of Maharashtra, on the Blue Go
d and the Awakened have given rise to an entirely new insight into the
life and philosophy of these two great souls. She dares to put them i
n the same frame for the simple reason that for both of them answer to
all human sufferings lie in human life itself.\n\nWhile choosing the
Warli Art of painting, a traditional art form of Maharashtra, makes us
e of simple triangles, circles, dots and dashes in a bi-colour format
(white and brown) general to depict normal workday in the life of Warl
i community. Babita Biswas without compromising on the basic character
istics of the art, creatively experiments with colours to create image
 s of divinity.\n\nFor more information visit http://indianartnetwork.c
